What is not visible is not invisible :
Selection from the 23 French Regional Collections of Contemporary Art (FRAC)
2017. 3. 24 - 5. 20

As part of our annual collection series, SongEun ArtSpace proudly presents the selected artworks from FRAC (Fonds Régionaux d’Art Contemporain). FRACs are French Regional Collections of Contemporary Art created in 1982 as part of the policy of devolution of power set by the government via regional councils in order for art to be present in each and every one of France’s regions. Today, the FRACs’ collections gather 26,000 works from 5,400 French and foreign artists. Apart from collecting artworks as their primary mission, they are also active in promoting contemporary artists. Platform is the umbrella organization of these regions and this national network regularly coordinates collective projects abroad in order to show the FRACs’ collections internationally. Showing for the first time in Korea, this exhibition has been conceived by Platform in collaboration with the 23 FRACs and the inaugural exhibition was co-curated with the National Museum of Singapore.

Curated by Laurence Gateau (Director of FRAC des Pays de la Loire) and Anne-Claire Duprat (General Secretary of Platform), What is not visible is not invisible, a text taken from one of the artists Julien Discrit, will present thirty works by twenty eight French and international artists from the FRACs collections. It is a small selection of the overall collection but it should still be a good insight on the role of government agencies in supporting the contemporary art based on the activities and collections of FRACs.
